Immunisation information

Important information for those invited for Meningitis B

It is recommended that children who receive Meningitis B vaccinations are given a dose of paracetamol every 4-6 hours following their vaccination until they have received a total of 3 doses ie one dose immediately after the vaccination, a 2nd dose 4-6 hours later and a 3rd dose 4-6 hours after that.

Read the instructions on the paracetamol carefully to ensure you give the appropriate dose for the child’s age.

If your baby was born before 32 weeks gestation and now weighs less than 4kg (8lb 13oz) you will need to visit your GP in the week before this immunisation appointment to gain a prescription for the correct dose of paracetamol. It would be helpful to your GP if your baby has been weighed recently.

Important information for those invited for Rotarix

Following vaccination with Rotarix vaccine, it is advised that contact with people who are immunocompromised is avoided for 2 weeks following the vaccination

Post immunisation side effects vary with each vaccine. Please follow the links on our website for individual vaccine advice, side effects and post immunisation care
