Who We Are

Locala employs around 1500 people who are all committed to delivering the very best services to patients. Our team are part of the community and have often cared for generations within the same family.

We continue to be part of the NHS family too and deliver care under the same ethos. Our staff enjoy the same terms and conditions – and we offer a flexible pension scheme with Royal London.

Locala is led by our Board of Directors and Members Council who are central to how we ensure our business runs as effectively as possible.

As a social enterprise, Locala now has 1,800 members made up of Locala colleagues and members of the community. Members are a driving force for positive change and play an active role in shaping our community healthcare services. Members are represented by our Members Council.”

Locala’s Board

Locala’s Board is made up of Executive Directors and their Non-Executive counterparts who work to manage the affairs of Locala and provide strategic direction for the future. It has responsibility for making sure:

  • We provide safe, effective and high quality care for patients
  • We manage our finances to enable us to invest in services
  • We plan for the future and adapt to change
  • We meet our regulatory and contractual obligations

The Board meets monthly and meets formally with the Members Council at the Annual General Meeting.

In addition, there are three sub-committees of the Board:

  • Audit and Risk Committee - Provides overall scrutiny and recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Nomination and Remuneration Committee - The nominations committee reviews the structure of the Board and its subordinate committees. The remunerations committee determines policy on staff remuneration and must approve any review of staff salary. It also appoints and decides the remuneration of the Executive Directors.
  • Quality Committee
