Community Fund

The Locala Community Fund is now open for 2021 applications!

Please note submissions to the Community Fund will close on Monday 18th October at 5pm. Any applications submitted after the closing time will not be accepted.

We encourage all groups who are applying for the Community Fund to join Locala as community members. Community Membership allows individuals to have a say and give involved in local healthcare in a way that suits them and the time they can give. We want you to be a part of it! Every year, The Locala Community Fund donates at least £10,000 to community, third sector and charity organisations in Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees who apply for up to £1500 to support their projects. The Community Fund is part of Locala’s social enterprise commitment investing any profits back into services or community projects.  

In January 2021, The Locala Community Fund donated £28,000 to 22 community groups across Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees. More information about the groups supported can be found here.

Who can apply?

All applications accepted to the Locala Community Fund must meet the following criteria. 

All applications to the Locala Community Fund must support Locala’s common purpose of the pursuit of Better Lives for those in our communities.

  1. In order to demonstrate groups are working to pursue better lives for those in their communities, groups must demonstrate support to one of the following areas:
    • Providing opportunities for young people
    • Improving the local environment
    • Reducing social isolation
    • Supporting carers
  2. Be based in and provide services and support in at least one of the areas Locala do business (Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees)
  3. Be not-for-profit, a community interest company, independent charity or constituted group. 
  4. Not have received a grant through the Community Fund in the previous financial year
  5. Be a fully constituted group, with written governing documents
  6. Be able to provide details of an independent reference
  7. Have a named bank account
  8. Have an in date safeguarding policy if working directly with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults
  9. Own any buildings if applying for funding to carry out renovations to buildings 
  10. Have an annual turnover of less than £50,000
  11. By applying for less than £1500.00
  12. Be willing to take part in positive publicity with Locala, if a grant is awarded.
