Community Fund

Please note, applications to the Community Fund are now closed. The Community Fund will be back open again this year!

Every year, The Locala Community Fund donates at least £10,000 to community, third sector and charity organisations in Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees who apply for up to £1500 to support their projects. The Community Fund is part of Locala’s social enterprise commitment investing any profits back into services or community projects. The Community Fund is part of Locala’s social enterprise commitment, as an organisation we invest profits back into health services or community projects.  

In January 2022, The Locala Community Fund donated over £43,000 to 30 community groups across Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees. More information about the groups supported can be found here.

Who can apply?

All applications accepted to the Locala Community Fund must meet the following criteria. Please note, the following is the criteria applications during 2021-2022, which has now closed. Please keep checking back for details of when the community fund next opens, the application process and criteria!

All applications to the Locala Community Fund must support Locala’s common purpose of the pursuit of Better Lives for those in our communities.

  1. In order to demonstrate groups are working to pursue better lives for those in their communities, groups must demonstrate support to one of the following areas:
    • Providing opportunities for young people
    • Improving the local environment
    • Reducing social isolation
    • Supporting carers
  2. Be based in and provide services and support in at least one of the areas Locala do business (Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees)
  3. Be not-for-profit, a community interest company, independent charity or constituted group. 
  4. Not have received a grant through the Community Fund in the previous financial year
  5. Be a fully constituted group, with written governing documents
  6. Be able to provide details of an independent reference
  7. Have a named bank account
  8. Have an in date safeguarding policy if working directly with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults
  9. Own any buildings if applying for funding to carry out renovations to buildings 
  10. Have an annual turnover of less than £50,000
  11. By applying for less than £1500.00
  12. Be willing to take part in positive publicity with Locala, if a grant is awarded.

The Community Fund is an annual grants scheme, so will be open again in 2022. Please keep checking back for updates!
