Infant Feeding

Breastfeeding Support, Formula Feeding and Introducing Solid Foods:

For parents in Kirklees, support with feeding your baby is available.

We offer a variety of support in the home, on the phone, in clinics, and in small support groups from health visitors, child development practitioners, volunteer breastfeeding peer supporters, and lactation consultants. All our staff are trained to the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative standards to support parents with breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and weaning.

Infant feeding specialists can become involved in your care if you feel you need some support with feeding your baby. The support is based around breastfeeding, formula feeding, weaning and healthy diet advice. You can contact the service to refer yourself for support or your Health Visitor or Child Development Practitioner can refer you to the infant feeding specialists.

For support, please contact Locala (Mon-Fri) on 0300 304 5555.

If you need breastfeeding support out of hours (evening and weekend) please contact the National Breastfeeding Helpline.
