Every year in England, school children in Reception and Year 6 have their height and weight checked at school as part of the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP).
Height and weight measurements are used to calculate your child's weight status so that we can offer you help and guidance to help keep your child healthy and happy.
Your child’s class will take part in this year’s programme.
Further information about the National Child Measurement Programme can be found at https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-weight/national-child-measurement-programme
Delivering the NCMP gives the opportunity to raise your awareness of your child’s growth and healthy lifestyle choices.
The anonymised data is also collated to provide vital information that enables local authorities and their partner organisation to plan for and invest in key services to tackle obesity and its wider impact, and other health issues.
A child in their best state of health is much more likely to fulfill their full potential, thrive and be happy.
