Looking After Your Teeth
Locala’s Dental team are sometimes invited by local groups or schools to talk about how we can all keep our teeth and mouths healthy.
Top tips!
- Brush your teeth twice a day. Always last thing at night and at one other time in the day.
- Use a toothpaste with fluoride (1,350 – 1,500 ppm fluoride)
- Children 0-6 years old, should use a toothpaste containing at least 1,000 ppm fluoride.
- Use a smear of toothpaste for children under 3. Everyone else should use a pea size amount.
- It is recommended that you brush for 2 minutes.
- Try not to rinse your mouth with water after you brush your teeth. This will wash the fluoride off your teeth.
- Cut down on sugary foods and drinks and try and have them only with meals.
- Visit a dentist regularly. They will check that both your teeth and mouth are healthy.
