Information Governance

Information Governance is a term that covers the necessary safeguards for patient and personal information.

Your health records are confidential and we ensure that they are shared only on a need-to-know basis. Within Locala, we have moved to an electronic clinical record system. By using a 'Smartcard' system, we are able to control who has access to your clinical records and prevent anyone not involved in your care gaining access to your sensitive personal information.

We aim to maintain your privacy. You can read more about what this means in the section on Confidentiality and how we ensure we comply with the NHS requirements in the 'NHS Code of practice'.

We demonstrate our compliance with Information Governance through our yearly submission of evidence to meet the national Data Security and Protection Toolkit requirements. You can read more about what this means and our current compliance in the section on the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.

The General Data Protection Regulation allows every Patient the right to request a copy of their medical records once free of charge.

To request a copy please apply in writing to [email protected] where you will be given further instructions and information as to how to obtain your records.
