Athlete’s foot — also called tinea pedis — is a contagious fungal infection that affects the skin on the feet. It can also spread to the toenails and hands. Athlete’s foot isn’t serious, but it can sometimes be difficult to cure. It can appear anywhere on the foot, may be wet or dry, and is often very itchy.

Fungal skin infections are not routinely treated on the NHS. Following the advice in the links above will help. If you have followed the self-help advice and still want treatment, you should seek the services of an independent HCPC-registered podiatrist — The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) | The HCPC — or the podiatry clinic at the University of Huddersfield: Podiatry Clinic - University of Huddersfield.
