Stammering - North Kirklees

Stammering (North Kirklees)

We work with patients who have a stammer. Stammering may involve:

  • repeating sounds, syllables or words
  • prolonging certain sounds and not being able to move on to the next sound
  • long pauses between certain sounds and words
  • using a lot of filler words such as “um” and “ah”

Stammering varies in severity from person to person, and from situation to situation. Someone might have periods of stammering followed by times when they speak relatively fluently.

Please note that we only accept referrals for patients who are registered with a North Kirklees GP.

For those who are registered with a South Kirklees GP, please contact Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.
