The Jubilee Service has team members with many years experience in the rehabilitation of older people and with people with complex rehabilitation needs such as falls and Parkinson's.
The team also has two junior Physiotherapy post. These are posts are occupied by physiotherapist on a rotation through the different services, Locala offers. They bring experience from other teams and work supported within the Jubilee Service.
The team is supported by an administration team.
Rachel Galloway (Team Leader/Physiotherapist)
Rachel qualified from the University of Teesside in 1997 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. She has worked completing her first two years working on a variety of wards and departments at Pinderfields Hospital, including Burns and Plastics, medical wards, elderly wards and Stroke Rehabilitation. She moved to Dewsbury in 2001 to specialise in rehabilitation of older people within the hospital. In 2002 she moved to working within the rehabilitation unit at Dewsbury Hospital. In 2006 this unit moved to Eddercliffe Health Centre in Cleckheaton and Jubilee Service began. In 2007 she gained a MSc in Rehabilitation Management of the Older Person from York St Johns. In 2009 she became Team Lead for the unit but still enjoys clinical work.
Amanda Farrar (Rehabilitation Assistant)
Amanda qualified in 1989 as a Registered General Nurse working mostly on medical wards and within medicine for the elderly at Dewsbury District Hospital. In 1998 she continued her nursing career at a private nursing home. Then in 2003 she began her current role as a Rehabilitation Assistant within the Jubilee Team. She enjoys working within a multidisciplinary team and all aspects of patient rehabilitation.
Diane Chesters (Senior Occupational Therapist)
Diane qualified from the College of Occupational Therapy, Oxford, in 1992. For a couple of years she worked in Manchester on both acute and rehabilitation wards for older people. She then moved to Cheltenham where she spent three years working in a rehabilitation hospital for older people before moving back to the north. Initially, she worked in Leeds with the Intermediate Care Team but in 1999 was pleased to be appointed back into a role within care of the elderly at Dewsbury Hospital’s rehabilitation unit which was later re-named as the Jubilee Rehabilitation Unit and moved to its community base at the Eddercliffe Centre. Due to the nature of those attending the Jubilee Unit Diane has developed her skills in assessing and treating a range of conditions, but in particular falls and Parkinson’s Disease.
Theresa Sheffield (Senior Physiotherapist)
Theresa qualified from University of Manchester school of Physiotherapy with BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 1993. She worked for one year in Rochdale and two years at Dewsbury District Hospital as a junior, rotating around a wide variety of specialities.
In 1996 she began work for Milton Keynes General Hospital, this included nine months specialising in Respiratory, including an intensive care unit and two years in the Neurological team, which included playing a role in training nursing staff and setting up of a sixteen bed stroke Rehabilitation ward.
In 2000 she moved to Community based work, as Senior Physiotherapist in the community Hospital, and lead Physiotherapist in setting up the Intensive Home Support Scheme, for Milton Keynes. In 2003 to 2009 she took up the role of Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist at Milton Keynes Neurological Rehabilitation unit, assessing and treating adults of all ages with complex Neurological conditions.
In 2009 she began work here at the Jubilee Rehabilitation Unit.
