Over the past three months, colleagues at Locala have been working hard to produce bereavement cards to give to the families and carers of our patients. Mark kindly provided the beautiful images featured on the cards. He said, “It’s an absolute pleasure to help out a local organisation. I am proud to see my images being used and hope they provide comfort to bereaved families.”
Mark is a local photographer based in Huddersfield who understands the power of imagery in evoking emotion. He believes that when it comes to capturing meaningful moments in life, the right photographs can bring comfort and connection. If his images have helped bring a sense of peace, warmth, or reflection, he's honoured to be part of such important moments.
Sam Emsley, Clinical Lead for End of Life Care, added, “The bereavement cards offer sympathy, empathy, and reassurance that Locala is thinking of the families of our patients during such a challenging time.”
Our nurses build trust and a strong professional rapport with patients, so it felt important to extend that relationship and support to their families after they have passed.
After several conversations and feedback from patients, Sam came up with the idea to create a bereavement card that Community Nurses could give to families to express their sympathies. The team wanted the cards to convey a sense of familiarity, so when Mark kindly offered his photographs of local scenery, we were grateful to select some to feature on the cards.
We are so grateful to Mark for his contribution and to our dedicated Community Nurses, who work tirelessly every day to ensure the best care for those in our communities.
