We are incredibly proud to announce that we have been awarded the Menopause Friendly Workplace Accreditation.
We worked together with other organisations across the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership to support our workforce, raise awareness around menopause and to stamp out the taboo and stigma that exists. This is a key part of ensuring we demonstrate Locala’s Value of ‘being caring’, and that we continue on our journey to become an Employer of Choice.
Locala is particularly proud of the introduction of a Menopause Peer-to-Peer support group. The sessions which run approximately 8-12 weeks are facilitated by colleague volunteers on a rota basis, with more specialist speakers attending some sessions by invitation. One of these sessions was hosted by the UK Governments Menopause Employment Champion and was specifically aimed at male colleagues and managers, helping them to understand their role in ensuring Locala is a Menopause Friendly Employer.
The Menopause Friendly Accreditation, established by Henpicked: Menopause In The Workplace (www.menopausefriendly.co.uk), recognises high standards and proven practices that embrace menopause in the workplace.
The Menopause Friendly Accreditation is industry-recognised and the only accreditation that sets clear standards which must be met. As such, it is truly meaningful and considered by many as a mark of excellence for menopause in the workplace.
In order to achieve The Menopause Friendly Accreditation, employers are assessed by an Independent Panel and must demonstrate evidence of their effectiveness in six key areas, namely:
