Last week, the 0-19 Research Network was named the “winners” of this year’s Nursing Times Award for Public Health Nursing at a ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Ballroom in London.
This recognition reflects the hard work of the network’s leaders and members. In particular, we would like to say a big well done to Sarah Lawley, Nursing Fellow and 0-19 Research Lead at Locala Health and Wellbeing.
Since its establishment in 2013, the Network has improved research capacity in health visiting and school nursing, focusing on underserved populations. Under the leadership of Louise Wolstenholme, with support from Victoria Jackson and various partners, the Network has made significant progress in enhancing public health research and engagement.
The judges said this team’s dedication not only drives meaningful change but also inspires the broader public health nursing workforce. It exemplifies the resilience and innovation of nurse leaders to successfully overcome significant challenges.
Sarah Lawley expressed gratitude for the award, noting the collective effort of her colleagues. She has developed her role and established the Locala 0-19 Research & Innovation Group, which she plans to expand at an organisational level. The Institute of Health Visiting has published a report on this work, which has been shared previously.
We extend our thanks to Sarah Lawley for her dedication, which has been crucial to achieving this award. Her efforts continue to support the mission to improve the health and wellbeing of children and families in our communities. Congratulations, Sarah!
