Congratulations to Locala colleagues Sarah Lawley and Victoria Vallance who will now join Locala's Queen’s Nursing Community with their awards from the Queen’s Nurse Institute!
The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI) is a registered charity dedicated to improving the nursing care of people in their own homes and communities in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Its mission is to support community nurses, employers, policymakers, and educators.
The QNI has a rich history dating back to 1887 and plays a crucial role with influencing policy, promoting best practices, and providing resources for community nurses. They also offer various awards to community nurses for their service. Additionally, the QNI collaborates with international partners through the International Community Nursing Observatory (ICNO) to enhance service delivery and analyse data related to community nursing.
Sarah was given her title for her work in research. She is a health visitor who has worked in partnership with the NIHR (National Institute for Health and Public Research) with regards to raising the importance of care for the 0-19 members of the community. This includes increasing the capacity of Locala to be able to participate in more research.
Victoria has been awarded Queen’s Nurse for using the privilege of her executive nurse leadership role to ensure best outcomes and experiences of care for people and communities. With a daily focus to ensuring people start life well, live well, age well and die well, Victoria ensures clinical excellence is at the fore of how care is delivered. However, she is also leading wider system transformation to ensure the right care is available for people at home and in the places where they live.
The title of Queen's Nurse is awarded to individuals who work in a variety of community services who show a commitment to learning, leadership, and excellence in nursing care.
