Community groups support fund is open now

Grants of up to £1500 to support community projects and groups in Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees are now available as Locala’s Community Fund is open for 2020.

Over recent years more than £60,000 has already been donated to a variety of community, not for profit and voluntary groups doing exciting and important work in their local area. These have included Scouts and Brownies, junior sports clubs and church groups as well as programmes supporting people dealing with issues such as dementia, social isolation, drug and alcohol misuse and disability, along with work to promote community cohesion and environmental programmes.

The Fund is particularly interested in receiving applications from groups who focus on:

  • Reducing social isolation
  • Opportunities for young people
  • The local environment
  • Supporting carers

More details, including the eligibility criteria and online application form can be found on the Locala website here.

Application forms can also be sent by post, and any questions or further information can be requested from our Membership Team by emailing [email protected].

The deadline for applications to this year’s Locala Community Fund is 12th October 2020, at 5pm.

Diane McKerracher, Locala’s Chair of the Board says, “It’s truly wonderful to see the fantastic work going on in our communities and to be able to support so many activities through our Community Fund.

“The projects supported through the Fund are decided by Locala members, made up of both our colleagues and people from our communities, who vote for the projects they would most like to see supported.

“We know that community organisations have faced huge challenges this year and small grant funding like this is more important than ever. As Locala is a social enterprise, that gives us the flexibility to make a real difference to our local communities, working in partnership with community groups, keeping local people at the heart of everything we do.”

Locala Community Partnerships, is a not-for-profit social enterprise providing NHS community healthcare services in Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees.

The Community Fund is part of Locala’s commitment as a social enterprise, to give back to local communities by investing any surplus into developing local healthcare services and community projects.

All Fund applicants are also encouraged to join Locala as Community Members and have a say in what happens in local healthcare. Members can join the Reader’s Panel to review patient information, take part in focus groups and other patient engagement activity, and nominate themselves to be part of the Locala Members’ Council, as well as much more.

We are committed to ensuring local people have a say in their healthcare provision at Locala and look for Members who have the time and passion to be actively involved.  More information about membership can be found here, or those interested can email [email protected]
