Celebrating International Nurses Day at Locala

International Nurses Day 2025 is a global celebration held on 12 May to honour the contributions of nurses worldwide.

At Locala, we’re proud to celebrate International Nurses Day—a time to recognise the outstanding dedication and compassion of our nursing colleagues who deliver high-quality care every day across our communities.

Over the past few months, we’ve been preparing for this day by inviting colleagues to pledge an act of kindness in support of team wellbeing and to share selfies and stories that celebrate our incredible nurses. The response has been truly epic, and we can’t wait to showcase our brilliant colleagues.

Throughout this week, we are hosting a number of internal events across Locala to mark the occasion. These include drop-in sessions, wellbeing activities, and opportunities to connect and celebrate with colleagues. It’s a chance for teams to come together, reflect on the value of nursing, and acknowledge the contributions of our fantastic workforce.

Celebrations will also continue across our social media platforms, where we’ll be sharing your pledges, stories, and photos to highlight the vital work of our nurses and the collective spirit of our teams. Whether it’s a shared lunch, a thoughtful gesture, or a story of someone’s journey into nursing, these moments remind us of the power of kindness, connection, and collaboration.

This initiative also reflects our Thrive Strategy, which focuses on empowering colleagues and supporting wellbeing throughout the organisation.

And most importantly, we want to say a huge thank you to our incredible nurses. Your dedication, compassion, and professionalism are at the heart of everything we do. We are so proud of the care you provide and the difference you make in the lives of our patients every day.

Meet our nurses:

Claire Westmoreland's Career Journey

Claire Westmoreland has had a fascinating journey into nursing, which first started while completing a Nursing DipHE in Learning Disabilities. After working as a learning disability teacher in Qatar, she returned to the UK where she secured further qualifications and training which has led to her current role in the Safeguarding Team here at Locala!

Sarah Lawley - Nursing Journey

Our wonderful colleague Sarah Lawley has been driving Locala's research efforts in recent years with a focus on 0-19 healthcare. Sarah is now one of just 24 nurses in England given a place this year on the prestigious Senior Research Leader (SRL) programme. This means she will be given two days per week over the next three years to develop and build research opportunities for nurses at Locala to be involved in.
