Women most commonly get candida (thrush) and bacterial vaginosis causing discharge. If abnormal discharge persists, a woman should be examined in case of a retained tampon / to see the cervix.
Women and occasionally men can also get urine infections causing burning and needing to pass urine frequently.
BV, and candida will commonly go on their own. If you think you need a check-up this is available from pharmacies, GPs, as well as the Sexual Health service.
