Mashed and soft cooked sticks of fruit and vegetables like parsnips, yams, potatoes, sweet potato, carrot, apple, pear, all cooled before eating. Or try soft peach or melon, mango and ripe banana.

Next foods:

Soft cooked meat such as chicken, mashed fish (check for bones), pasta, noodles, toast, chapatti, lentils, rice and mashed hard boiled eggs. Full fat dairy products with no added sugar or salt. Cow's milk can be used in cooking or mixed with foods from 6 months.

Drinking cups

Drinking Cups:

Introduce a cup from 6 months and offer sips of water with all meals. Using an open cup or a free flow cup without a valve will help a child learn to sip and be better for their teeth.

From 6 months offer your baby a range of finger foods so they can develop their chewing skills. Finger foods should be cut up into pieces big enough for your baby to hold in their fist and stick out of the top of it.
