In Locala we understand that receiving care, particularly intimate care/treatments/examinations may cause anxiety. As a patient you have the right, if you wish, to have a chaperone present.

A chaperone is an additional health worker who can be present as well as the clinician during your care/treatment/examination. The chaperone is present to support you and the clinician during the delivery of care/treatment/ examination. Chaperones support the right’s of the patient and help to maintain dignity throughout the care/treatment/examination.

If you feel you would like a chaperone present at your care/treatment/examination, please inform your Clinician who will be more than happy to arrange this for you.

There may be occasions where it is recommended that a chaperone is present as an impartial person to ensure the care/treatment/examination is carried out as per policy. You are able to decline this but this may affect the delivery of your care/treatment/examination.
