Blood Taking Service (Phlebotomy)

We collect blood samples from patients (12 year and over) and send them to the pathology laboratories for analysis. In order to have a blood test, you will need an appointment. This is not a drop-in/walk-in service.

Your appointment will have been booked by your GP or Consultant. The results of your blood tests will be sent directly to the person who requested them. If you have any specific questions about your investigations, please discuss them with your GP or Consultant as the phlebotomist will not be able to answer these for you.

The clinic is for taking blood only and the team do not accept any other samples these should be given to your GP

If you need to cancel or re-arrange your appointment, please contact your GP practice.

What will happen with my results?

Your blood sample will be sent to the lab for tests the same day. The results will usually be back with you GP within 48 working hours, although some tests do take longer. Your GP will be in contact with you regarding the results if needed, we do not receive the results of your blood test.

Is this a drop-in clinic?

No, you need to have an appointment booked to attend, this will usually have been booked by your GP.
