Quality Report:

To ensure we have a diverse and representative workforce, and that our services care for people as individuals, and are accessible for all equally.

Current Situation:

Locala has a Single Equality Scheme, however we want to take this further and implement an equality and diversity strategy and action plan. Although the organisation subscribes to the principles of the Equality Act there are gaps and inconsistencies in the equality monitoring information collected. To be able to feel confident that our workforce is truly diverse and representative, and that our services are equally accessible to all there is work to be done to collect and analyse the correct data and support colleagues with appropriate training.

Why is it a priority?

  • It is vital that the organisation is confident that services are accessible to all, and that we have a diverse and representative workforce.
  • It is important that services, and the organisation as a whole, are able to demonstrate that they are meeting the requirements of the Equality Act.
  • Colleagues need to be supported to understand the issues, why they are important, and how this fits with the ethos, vision and values of the organisation.

How will we achieve it?

  • We will work with the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and other healthcare organisations to deliver a project using the Equality Delivery System 2 (EDS2) toolkit.
  • We will devise and implement a strategy and work towards collecting consistent equality monitoring data on a regular basis.
  • We will develop regular training for colleagues to develop confidence and awareness.
  • We will develop effective ways to analyse data and share information and learning.
