Community groups support fund is open now

Grants of up to £1500 to support community projects and groups in Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Stockport and Tameside are now available as Locala’s Community Fund is open for 2022/23.

Over recent years more than £100,000 has already been donated to a variety of community, not for profit and voluntary groups doing exciting and important work in their local area.

These have included Scouts and Brownies, junior sports clubs and church groups, and community facilities at local schools, as well as programmes supporting people dealing with issues such as dementia, social isolation, drug and alcohol misuse and disability, along with work to promote community cohesion and environmental programmes.

Last year’s Locala Community Fund saw over £43,000 donated to 30 community groups.

This year, the Fund is particularly interested in receiving applications for projects which support Locala’s Social Value pledges around initiatives involving:
•    Health and wellbeing
•    Education and Skills
•    Employment
•    Volunteering
•    Economic opportunities
•    Environment
•    Community Leadership

More details, including the eligibility criteria and online application form can be found on the Locala website here: www.locala.org.uk/get-involved/community-fund

Application forms can also be sent by post, and any questions or further information can be requested by emailing [email protected]

The deadline for applications to this year’s Locala Community Fund is 27th January 2023 at 5pm

Diane McKerracher, Locala’s Board Chair says, “It’s truly inspiring to see the fantastic work going on in our communities and to be able to support so many activities through our Community Fund.

“The work that benefits from the Fund is decided on by Locala members, made up of both our colleagues and people from our communities, who vote for the projects they would most like to see supported.

“We know that community organisations continue to face huge challenges and small grant funding like this is more important than ever.

"As Locala is a social enterprise, that gives us the flexibility to find new ways of caring for our local communities beyond our core services, working in partnership with community groups. Given the exceptional circumstances many in our communities are finding themselves in this year, we have a particular interest in applications from groups offering services supporting those most in need.”

Locala Health and Wellbeing, is a not-for-profit social enterprise providing NHS community healthcare services in Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Stockport and Tameside.

The Community Fund is part of Locala’s commitment as a social enterprise, to give back to local communities by investing any surplus into developing our services and community projects.
