Calling all parents of under fives ... we need you!

Join Locala's new Parents Panel. This is your chance to give and gather feedback on Locala's Children's Services and help us develop children's community healthcare services across Kirklees, and beyond.

Our member-led Parents Panel act as a sounding board for Locala’s Children’s Services and support service-users and parents in the community. The group is guided by its members to develop and explore new methods of communication, to ensure that parents are happy with the quality of service that they receive.

What are our aims?

We aim to carry out the following:

  • Look at organising drop-in sessions in community venues such as Mothercare and Baby Bistros, with a stand which provides people with the opportunity to provide feedback on Locala's Children's Services.
  • Set up a reading group, to review patient literature for Locala's Children's Services.
  • Set up a section on the Locala website with information about the Parent Liaison Group, group member's backgrounds and photographs.
  • Host events such as coffee mornings for parents and their children.
  • Continue to promote the work of the Parents Panel to increase its members.
  • Present a report at the end of each quarter to the Customer Engagement Manager for the Children's Business Unit.

How can I get involved?

Locala will be making changes to how the health visiting and school nursing services look and feel. To do this we are setting up a working group to support the redesign of the services, which will include people working for Locala, but also most importantly – parents and young people. We are looking for parents in Kirklees, parents like you, to be part of this group. We will be holding some meetings but you won’t need to attend all of them – there will also be opportunities to have your say via Skype, text, phone, email and any other way you want! You will get as much help and support as you need. However, this is ultimately about you helping us to do things differently and design health visiting and school nursing services that work together and provide the best possible care and support for young people and families. We really do want to look at things differently so this is an amazing opportunity to be part of something big. If you are interested please contact Emma Dickens on 07814 301 262, or email:
